CALL FOR PAPERS
Kenya is in the middle of a major political, social, and economic crisis. The purpose of this inaugural Kenya Scholars & Studies Association (KESSA) Conference is to examine the genesis of this and other Kenyan political, social, economic and environmental challenges from a variety of disciplinary/interdisciplinary perspectives, with the hope of contributing to the resolution of these issues. The papers that advance solutions to challenges are encouraged.
Papers can focus on various aspects of Kenya’s Political Economy, Elections, Constitution, Culture, Government, Development, Technological Landscape, Gender, Environment, Social make-up, Politics and Geopolitics, Infrastructure, Economy, Security, Poverty, Health and Disease, Food security, Urbanization, Education and Scientific challenges. Each paper presentation will last for approximately 20 minutes.
Proposals for organized paper/discussion sessions at the inaugural KESSA Conference are also welcome. Organized discussion/paper sessions should consist of 4-5 papers. Session organizers should clearly identify other session participants or submit all session abstracts in one package.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
Anyone interested in advancing the cause of Kenya may participate in our inaugural KESSA conference. You are eligible to give a presentation or participate in other capacities in the conference provided you are registered for the meeting.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION/CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
Presenters should submit 250-word (or less) abstracts that include the presentation's title, presenter, institutional affiliation, contact information (mailing address, phone, and email address), purpose, methods, conclusions, and key words. Abstracts should be edited for spelling, grammatical, and typographical errors. Abstracts should convey research results clearly and concisely and should be as jargon free as possible.

By submitting an abstract, you grant KESSA permission to include it in the conference program and/or disseminate it electronically.
The conference registration & abstract submission deadline is: March 30, 2008
Full papers are due by June 30, 2008

You are responsible for your own accommodation arrangements. The hotels and inns listed on the sidebar are close to the conference site.
CONFERENCE SPONSORSHIP
Conference attendees are responsible for ALL costs associated with participation in this conference. Conference invitation letters may be issued to participants from outside the US upon acceptance of abstract(s). KESSA is in no position to expedite/influence the issuance of visas to foreign-based conference participants.
